Testimonial: Umesh Pindoria, Tough Glass
In 2020, Umesh Pindoria began working for Tough Glass, a specialist in tough glass manufacturing, based in Perth. As a Maintenance Manager, his job is to keep the machines cutting, polishing, and grinding at all times – and for that, he needed the right tools.
With a set of Lisec Splitfins in their shop, Tough Glass had a limited number of tooling suppliers to choose from. After finding their machine manufacturers’ initial supply of wheels weren’t up to scratch, they went looking for alternatives. Tired of being on the phone to maintenance multiple times a week, on top of sacrificing 5-8 panels per setup, Umesh reaches out to Vincent, who connects him with us. The difference was instant.
Instead of sacrificing 5-8 glass panels per job, only 2-3 panels were required. Productivity levels went up, and headaches – especially those related to procurement – went right down.
“We now have quick turnaround with delivery – for urgent orders, we can receive the tools the next day in Perth, otherwise it takes about 3 days. Most orders are shipped the same day as the order,” says Umesh.
Working with Dominik, our Stone, Glass, and Tooling rep, Umesh worked out a regular, 3-monthly order run that included various diamond grinding and polishing wheels for panels. For any in-between orders, they leaned on us to get tools to their Perth factory – and fast.
This takes a lot of behind-the-scenes planning on our end; handling logistics between Europe and Australia to ensure that we have the right stock ready to go. That alone is life-saving for our clients – and we’re always looking for ways to improve and grow.
“They are continuously improving their stock levels to keep the tools we most need in stock, especially with our increase in productivity,” Umesh notes.
