Oceania Glass’ Legacy Continues Through Viridian

After months of sad news sweeping Australia’s glass industry, local shop owners have reason to rejoice.

Viridian, long-term partners with Oceania Glass, have acquired the company’s distribution assets and remaining inventory. This marks a new chapter for the company, who consciously take on a huge responsibility, with a vision to honour and build upon Oceania Glass’ 169-year legacy.

“While we are grateful for the chance to strengthen our supply chain and better service our customers, we do so with a deep sense of responsibility and humility. We recognise the impact this change has had on many in our industry, and we remain committed to honouring the legacy of local manufacturing by continuing to invest in capability and service. Thank you for your continued trust and support  as we navigate this transition together.”, writes Dean Haritos, Viridian’s CEO in a Linkedin post sharing the announcement.

With the rights to distribution acquired, domestic manufacturers now have a secure supply of panels to lean on; whether they work with imported products or not. This is a huge relief for those processing large volumes in the workshop, including Viridian themselves, Dean told Glassonweb:

“This strategic acquisition strengthens our long-term position in the Australian glass market and ensures the ongoing supply of bulk float glass to support our processing operations.”

Ash Hejry, Production Specialist at Viridian outlined some of these operations in his recent testimonial, giving a picture of what happens inside Viridian’s factories. Now, much is about to change as the company expands their reach, making float glass even more accessible across Australia.

What to expect from Viridian’s distribution assets acquisition

Change often brings opportunity – and this age-old truth has not been lost on Viridian. Several shifts come on the heels of the acquisitions, many of which offer peace of mind to those who had, until recently, had troubled about the future of glass supply.

These changes include:

– Stronger, and more secure supply capabilities

– Broader merchandising options

– Strategic supply chain infrastructure expansion

In their quest to secure local glass supply, Viridian has also expanded their services to include providing bulk merchandising options. Two new companies have been opened in Melbourne and Sydney specifically for this purpose, enabling industry professionals to easily access panels.

Planting the seeds for a prosperous future

All in all, the new owners of Oceania’s distribution assets have wielded their experience in the industry with great responsibility, using it to bring better service and security to those who need it most.  This is no small feat, as  huge volumes are processed on equipment such as our glass CNC machines and waterjets. With ultra-efficient models like the dry seaming CMS Aura significantly increasing productivity, demand for more raw materials is set to rise further than ever before.

With Viridian now taking over to supply panels locally, shop owners can rest easy knowing there will always be stock on-shore,  ready for processing. We look forward to seeing Australia’s industry flourish as these changes unfold!
