Work systems were very different at Feature Stone before the company switched to Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Formax 5-axis saw in September 2016.

“It was all manual cutting,” said director George Nohra. “The operator had to measure and check everything as he went.

“Nowadays, it’s all pre-programmed from upstairs. The process is a lot quicker . . . and more accurate.”

Previously known as Future Stone, Feature Stone manufactures stone products, benches, cladding for private and commercial fit-outs. Mr Nohra decided to re-evaluate the efficiency in his factory in 2016 – and one of the first decisions he made was to purchase a CMS Stone Technology machine from Innovync.

“It’s doubled our turnover,” he said. “It’s allowed us to take on more work and do larger projects. Errors have been minimised, and are easier to prevent.”

“We’ve been in the business for 17 years now, and switching to a CNC Formax 5-axis saw has been one of our best decisions to date. We’ve also invested in other CNC technology – an Idroline Waterjet and CMS Speed CNC Working centre – that have been great for us.”
