Glasstec 2026 Wrap: Three Things We’re Bringing Home

We didn’t come home from Glasstec talking about new machines. We came home talking about how they work together.

Glasstec 2026 ran from 20 to 23 October in Düsseldorf, and we spent all four days on the floor with our partners CMS, Bovone, Techwin and Vincent. Here are the three biggest takeaways for glass processors in Australia and New Zealand, and the machine that drew the most interest.

1. Automation is becoming more accessible and practical

One of the biggest takeaways was how manufacturers are making automation easier to integrate into everyday production. It’s no longer just about large, fully automated factories. We’re seeing more flexible solutions that allow businesses of different sizes to reduce manual handling, improve consistency and increase productivity.

That includes integrating automation with existing equipment, not just complete new plants. Integration with ERPs is also becoming more accessible across different machinery manufacturers.

For an Australian or New Zealand shop, that means automation can start with one step of the process, on the floor you already have.

2. Quality, reliability and simplicity remain critical

There’s no shortage of impressive technology, but what really stood out was the focus on making sophisticated machinery easier to operate, maintain and integrate. Customers want technology that delivers consistent results without adding unnecessary complexity to their operations.

3. The industry is moving towards complete manufacturing solutions

The focus is shifting beyond individual machines towards connecting different stages of production. From cutting and CNC processing to edging, washing, laminating and robotic handling, manufacturers are looking at how the entire process can work more efficiently together.

The standout on the CMS stand: the Aura dry arrising machine

We had huge interest in the CMS Aura. Customers were extremely surprised by the speed, quality and simplicity of the machine, especially as there is no need for programming.

The Aura arrises glass dry, with no water in the process. It measures each panel as it arrives and adjusts to the thickness on its own, so there is no set-up between panels. It runs monolithic, laminated and low-e glass.

The Aura in line with the Techwin washer

The Aura can be put in line with our Techwin vertical glass washing machine. Glass is arrised on the Aura, then washed and dried on the Techwin, staying upright the whole way. The Techwin takes glass up to 2.5 m high and 19 mm thick, with soft brushes for low-e coatings.

It’s a good example of takeaway three: two machines working as one step in the line, rather than two separate stations.

Also on the stands

  • CMS Ypsos mk2. Two heads grinding and polishing the same panel at the same time, on panels up to 6,000 x 3,300 mm.
  • CMS Electa. A compact horizontal CNC built for smaller, detailed work.
  • Bovone HRC hybrid oven and EVATHERM. Radiant and convection heating for a shorter start-up and lower energy use, and a stand-alone EVA oven with two independent chambers.
  • Vincent glass tooling. Diamond tools made in Italy since 1974, from edging wheels to CNC and REVERSE wheels for laminated glass.

What we’re bringing home

What we found particularly encouraging was the interest from Australian and New Zealand customers in finding smarter ways to manufacture. The conversations weren’t simply about buying new equipment, but understanding how technology can help their businesses become more productive, competitive and prepared for the future.

Thank you to the CMS, Bovone, Techwin and Vincent teams for their time in Düsseldorf.

Glasstec 2026 FAQs

Glasstec 2026 ran from 20 to 23 October 2026 at Messe Düsseldorf in Germany.

Automation becoming more accessible and practical, including with existing equipment and ERP systems; a focus on quality, reliability and simplicity; and a shift towards complete manufacturing solutions that connect each stage of production.

A dry arrising machine seams the edges (arrises) of glass without water. The CMS Aura measures each panel as it arrives and adjusts to its thickness, with no programming needed.

Yes. The CMS Aura can be put in line with a vertical washer such as the Techwin vertical glass washing machine, so glass is arrised, washed and dried without leaving the line.

Yes. Both are available through Innovync, which supplies, installs and services them across Australia and New Zealand.
